Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the procurement and management of Combat Support Equipment used by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) serving at home and abroad. This includes large deployable camps with various equipment such as power generation and distribution, water treatment, sea containers, fuel storage and distribution, soft-wall shelters, and ancillary equipment and temporary infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical studies, produce options, validate and assess risks, and evaluate designs.
• Review standards and specifications for system integration.
• Create technical evaluation plans and test procedures.
• Propose and analyze engineering change proposals, estimate costs and risks.
• Review work proposals and prepare procurement specifications.
• Develop and assess maintenance strategies and support requirements.
• Review system engineering designs and project documentation.
• Participate in discussions with Technical Authorities and provide technical recommendations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Secret (Level II) or higher Clearance with the Government of Canada.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in writing Statements of Work (SOW) for military equipment acquisition within the last 14 years.
• Experience specifying technical requirements and conducting testing for military equipment like potable water, wastewater treatment, fuel management, power generation, or camp shelter systems.
• Experience providing in-service engineering support for similar systems.
