Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at CRB, you'll have the unique opportunity to work within an integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm. Experience collaboration and continuous learning with subject matter experts across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, automation engineering; architecture and lab planning; procurement, estimation, virtual design & construction, health & safety, and construction management. How will I contribute?

This role is a key position in our Mississauga office, supporting our growth and expansion within Canada. You will be a vital part of the mechanical team, providing high-level technical support on all life sciences projects in Canada.

You will oversee discipline deliverables and budgets on projects of varying complexity, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and manage multiple tasks by establishing priorities and guiding team members. You may act as the mechanical point-of-contact for clients, other disciplines, pre-construction services, and contribute to project code analysis, bid/permit/construction deliverables, and technical design aspects. You will develop project documents such as calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications, ensuring full coordination from conception to completion.

You will also mentor early-career engineers on HVAC, plant utility, plumbing, and compressed gas systems.

Responsibilities:

• Interface with clients and partners
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget from a mechanical perspective for small to medium projects
• Assist in proposal development, man-hour planning, and project scheduling
• Identify non-compliant conditions during site surveys
• Develop construction drawings and specifications
• Lead mechanical engineering/design teams on complex projects
• Support construction activities such as RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers and designers

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Mechanical Option
• 10+ years of experience, preferably in a design firm
• P. Eng. or ability to obtain
• Experience with HVAC, mechanical utilities, plumbing, fire protection, and piping systems design
• Knowledge of mechanical/plumbing/fire codes and applicable building codes
• Experience conducting field surveys and reporting

Additional Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit preferred
• Experience with HVAC design for GMP cleanrooms and biosafety containment preferred
• Sustainable design certifications such as LEED or WELL preferred
• Intermediate troubleshooting skills for mechanical systems
• Experience coordinating with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers preferred
