Senior Mechanical Engineer - Senior Associate

Remedy Engineering is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take on a key Senior Associate-level role. You'll lead complex building systems projects, mentor a high-performing team, and help evolve how we work.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in HVAC and plumbing systems, project delivery from concept through construction, and client-facing leadership. You’ve built a reputation for technical excellence, but you also show up when things get hard. You support others, speak up when it counts, and bring clarity to complex situations.

If you're ready to step into a role that blends engineering depth with firm leadership, let's talk.

Note : This is a full-time, permanent, in-office role based in Edmonton.

What You’ll Be Doing :

As a Senior Associate, you’ll have a leadership role that spans across four key areas : technical delivery, team leadership, business development, and operational support.

Project and Technical Leadership

  • Oversee project delivery to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and to Remedy’s quality standards.
  • Offer technical guidance to project teams - stepping in to troubleshoot or provide clarity as needed.
  • Proactively identify and address project challenges, helping teams navigate obstacles while maintaining high standards.
  • Lead or support the development of internal standards, templates, and quality assurance practices.

People Leadership and Mentorship

  • Be a visible, approachable leader to junior and intermediate staff - someone they turn to for support.
  • Model and reinforce Remedy’s values through your actions and decision-making.
  • Mentor team members to grow their confidence, technical abilities, and professionalism.
  • Step in to mediate or resolve team dynamics when necessary.
  • Support resourcing and team planning by helping match the right people to the right projects.
  • Operational and Cultural Stewardship

  • Review and approve staff timesheets and ensure operational processes are followed.
  • Participate in setting and upholding Remedy’s policies, procedures, and internal systems.
  • Be part of internal conversations that shape how we work
  • Bring forward suggestions for how we can evolve, improve, or work more effectively.
  • Business Development and External Engagement

  • Represent Remedy at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Develop proposals, contribute to thought leadership, and build relationships in the community.
  • Help identify and cultivate new business opportunities
  • Act as a trusted voice in front of clients, representing the firm with professionalism and care.
  • What Success Looks Like :

  • You’re recognized inside and outside the firm as a steady technical leader.
  • Teams come to you early when things get complex.
  • Your projects close out on time, on budget, and with fewer surprises.
  • Junior and intermediate staff grow faster because you make space for learning and development.
  • You contribute beyond project delivery by helping shape standards, supporting proposals, and representing Remedy in the industry.
  • What We Want to See on Your Resume :

  • 8+ years in mechanical engineering, building systems, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated success on complex HVAC, plumbing, or multidisciplinary projects - from concept to construction
  • Direct responsibility for scope, budget, and client communication
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering software
  • Specific examples of mentoring junior or intermediate engineers
  • Team leadership (formal or informal)
  • Evidence of setting or improving internal standards, workflows, or QA processes
  • Participation in proposals, interviews, or business development
  • Involvement in industry orgs like APEGA, ASET, ASHRAE, or CIBSE
  • Contributions to industry visibility through public speaking, articles, or panels
  • During the Interview we will look for behaviours and competencies that demonstrate :

    Technical Leadership

  • How you break down complex projects and communicate across stakeholders
  • Your approach to managing design challenges, timelines, and trade-offs
  • How you support less experienced team members without micromanaging
  • How you give and receive feedback, especially under pressure
  • Business Acumen

  • Your ability to balance quality with budgets, timelines, and client expectations
  • Experience influencing internal decisions or process improvements
  • Internal Impact

  • How you've contributed beyond project work - team culture, onboarding, or operations
  • Comfort with ambiguity and initiative to step into leadership moments
  • Professional Presence

  • How you show up in a room and read the audience
  • Commitment to the profession and desire to grow Remedy’s reputation
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
  • Work-life balance
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment
  • A role where you will be able to own initiatives
  • Meaningful impact on our communities
  • Who are we?

We envision a world where engineering solutions are not only smart and sustainable but also ethical and equitable.
