Job summary

Ausenco is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design within our Mining & Metals team. You will supervise multidiscipline design, specify equipment needs, and manage costs while mentoring engineers and coordinating with procurement and construction teams.

Ideal candidates hold an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering degree with 8+ years of mining/mechanical design experience. Strong CAD/3D skills and excellent written/oral communication are essential.

• Minimum 8 years mechanical design experience in mining, mineral processing, or materials handling (gold/copper).
• Strong CAD and 3-D software knowledge; proficient with MS Office.
• Ability to mentor and coach personnel; well-developed written and oral skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering design on time and to required standards by supervising engineers and reviewing deliverables.
• Specify equipment requirements and assist procurement with purchases.
• Manage man-hour budgets and review/approve mechanical cost estimates; suggest alternatives.
• Assist development and review of mechanical contracts with input from the team.
• Issue drawings and related information for construction with engineers and designers.
• Mentor and motivate project team members to achieve high performance.

We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Mining & Metals team.

As a senior member of the mechanical team, you will supervise and coordinate the delivery of multidiscipline engineering design.

About the Role

• Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of mechanical engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
• Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment by specifying requirements and assisting procurement with the purchase of equipment
• Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
• Assist the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required
• Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by working with engineers and designers
• Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training

About You

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing, materials handling, specifically gold and copper.
• Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
• Good knowledge of CAD and 3-D software and MS Office
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
• Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
• Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Well-developed written and oral skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.

Salary range

$135,000 - $175,000 annually

Salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
