Job summary

WSP in Sudbury, Ontario seeks a Mechanical Designer to contribute expertise to multidisciplinary mining and industrial projects. You will design layouts for heavy facilities, prepare 3D models, diagrams, and design briefs, and collaborate with engineering teams to meet client standards.

The role emphasizes experience in heavy industrial layout design, consulting background, and proficiency with AVEVA E3D, Plant3D, Revit, and related tools. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• 8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design for heavy industrial/mining projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and piping installation in the field.
• Must have consulting experience.
• Proven experience with AVEVA E3D, Plant3D, Revit, Microstation, SolidEdge and SmartPlant.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; French is an asset.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D models and layout general arrangements for upgrades/new facilities.
• Prepare process flow diagrams.
• Prepare design calculations and briefs.
• Prepare trade-off studies and reports.
• Assist in checking Vendor documentation.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely design information flow.
• Contribute to maintenance and revision of equipment libraries and standards.
