Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join an automation company based in Waterloo, Ontario. You will lead the design and development of custom automated machinery, collaborating with project managers, programmers, customers, and manufacturing teams to create innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of experience in mechanical design or equivalent - majority in an automation environment.
• Experience with pneumatics or vision systems
• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering
• Valid passport and driver's license

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of custom automated machinery.
• Collaborate with project managers, programmers, customers and manufacturing teams to ensure design excellence.
• Develop machine concepts and detailed CAD designs for the system.
• Select and integrate mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and sensing components.
• Generate technical documentation and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Support procurement activities and provide hands-on guidance during assembly, commissioning, and debugging.

Responsibilities include developing machine concepts and detailed CAD designs, selecting and integrating mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and sensing components, generating technical documentation and bills of materials, supporting procurement activities, and providing hands-on technical guidance throughout machine assembly, commissioning, and debugging. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations while contributing to the successful execution of complex automation systems.
