Job summary

emergiTEL is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our client in the healthcare and nuclear technology industry. This permanent role is based in Ottawa, ON.

The ideal candidate will design, test, and support advanced automated equipment, lead mechanical projects, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery. Occasional travel is required, and a PE designation or eligibility is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, commission, and support advanced automated industrial equipment (production irradiators).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Project Managers, Design & Drafting, Controls) to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Apply in-depth engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
• Lead or contribute to the design and manufacture of irradiator components and assemblies, including: coordinating manufacturing activities; performing safety analyses and engineering calculations; developing specifications; executing testing and compiling results; generating technical reports and driving continuous improvement.
