Position: Senior Marketing Manager – Business Improvement Association (BIA)
Job Summary
We’re looking for a passionate and creative marketing leader who understands the power of branding and storytelling in shaping a vibrant, connected community. As the Senior Marketing Manager for Downtown Oakville’s BIA, you will be the strategic force behind the district’s marketing and promotional efforts—bringing fresh energy and bold ideas to everything from digital campaigns to public events. You’ll work hand-in-hand with local businesses, community partners, and the BIA team to elevate the downtown experience, strengthen our brand identity, and drive engagement that supports economic growth. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Marketing & Branding
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote the BIA’s businesses, services, and initiatives.
- Strengthen and maintain the brand identity of the district through consistent messaging and visuals.
- Work with local businesses to create collaborative marketing campaigns.
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers.
- Prepare press releases, media kits, and other PR materials to highlight BIA initiatives.
- Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Lead, collaborate with, and mentor the Social Media/Digital Manager in managing the BIA’s website, social media platforms, and email marketing to drive engagement.
- Creating compelling content, including blogs, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Monitoring and analyzing content performance metrics to refine strategies and maximize online reach and engagement.
- Events & Promotions
- Take the lead on creating innovative events and experiences in alignment with our strategic plan.
- Plan and lead events, festivals, and promotions to drive foot traffic and enhance business district visibility.
- Develop partnerships with local businesses to create collaborative marketing initiatives.
- Assist ED with identifying sponsorships and funding for events and promotional campaigns.
- Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with local businesses, property owners, and community organizations to support growth initiatives.
- Host member category meetings providing brainstorming, insights and training where needed, fostering a community of shared learning.
- Research & Performance Metrics
- Monitor marketing trends, economic data, and customer insights to inform strategy.
- Conduct surveys and analyze feedback to measure campaign effectiveness.
- Provide regular reports to the Executive Director and Board of Management on marketing performance.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in economic development, retail, tourism.
- Strong knowledge of brand management, digital marketing, SEO, social media, and content creation and execution.
- Experience in event planning and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in marketing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, WordPress, Hootsuite, Wix).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns.
- Passion for placemaking and local economic growth.
- This role requires flexibility to attend evening and weekend events to support excellence in event execution. Alternative days off are provided.
Terms of Employment: Full-time (35hr/wk); occasional evening and weekend work required.
