Position Overview

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will be part of a growing team supporting all aspects of the construction process. Your responsibilities include performing innovative design engineering, brainstorming conceptual designs, reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, and mitigating risks to ensure safety.

This position is based out of our [CITY, STATE] office and typically requires less than 25% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex calculations and apply standards independently; lead when working with peers.
  • Review work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents.
  • Analyze structures using various software for designing buildings, foundations, equipment platforms, pipe racks, and miscellaneous structures. Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications related to the discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and local codes.
  • Utilize data analysis skills for decision making.
  • Review vendor documents to ensure specifications are met.
  • Lead mid to large-sized projects or proposals.
  • Develop and lead improvements in design and cost reduction.
  • Consider multiple solutions and make data-driven decisions.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Apply industry standards and improve processes.
  • Serve as a resource for less experienced engineers.
  • Interpret and apply codes and standards, leading project scope changes.
  • Produce design modifications to stay within budget and schedule.
  • Prioritize customer needs and perform quality checks.
  • Establish credibility through technical competency and leadership.
  • Contribute to client proposals and project estimates.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 10-18 years of relevant experience, preferably in refining and petrochemical industries with EPC experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with NCEES records preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Self-directed with limited supervision.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Lead small teams to complete tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborate across departments and with clients.
  • Support project teams positively and productively.
  • Serve as a technical resource and point of contact.

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $157,000/yr (subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and location)
