Job Description
Baird has an opportunity for a Senior Marine/Coastal Project Engineer with technical expertise and business development experience in water resources and coastal engineering. Senior engineers at Baird are involved in project delivery and play a key role in pursuing new business opportunities. This role offers growth potential for candidates who value collaboration and leading complex ocean, lake, and river projects.

In this role, you will lead project management efforts, contribute to business development by identifying and securing new opportunities, and build lasting client relationships based on reliability and results. You will also mentor junior staff and work within a team environment. Your expertise will enhance our capabilities in coastal and marine structures, port and navigation engineering, risk analysis, hydrology and hydraulics, metocean analysis, and construction management. Baird offers ownership potential, providing a long-term opportunity to shape the company's future.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead project delivery of marine and water resource projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards.
  • Expand business by building client relationships and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to foster trust.
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of junior staff.
  • Contribute to international initiatives and adopt global best practices.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Baird at the forefront of innovation.
  • Participate in defining business strategies and representing Baird at industry events.

Qualifications

  • B.S. (M.S. or M.Eng preferred) in civil, ocean, coastal, or related engineering; P.Eng in BE within six months preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in coastal and marine structures, ecosystem restoration, or navigation/dredging, with knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Proven success in securing projects with annual sales between $500K and $1M and strong project management skills.
  • Experience in marine and coastal engineering design and construction, with enthusiasm for the field.
  • Effective communication skills in English, ability to work in teams under deadlines, and willingness to travel internationally (1-2 weeks every other month).
