As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at DEKA, you'll play a critical role in transforming innovative medical device designs into scalable, high-quality, and regulatory-compliant manufacturing solutions. You'll work at the intersection of engineering, design, quality, and supply chain to ensure our products are manufacturable and meet the stringent demands of safety, reliability, and performance required in healthcare.
You'll lead detailed DFM reviews, evaluate GD&T and component specifications, and guide new product introductions from prototyping through to full-scale production. Your expertise in manufacturing electro-mechanical assemblies—including machined, molded, cast, and PCBA components—will help bring life-changing technologies to market efficiently and cost-effectively.
From collaborating on DFMEA/PFMEA, managing prototype builds, and optimizing supplier strategies, to developing ROI-backed launch plans and driving continuous improvement—you'll make a direct impact on how we deliver breakthrough medical solutions to patients around the world.
How you will make an impact as a Manufacturing Engineer:
- Evaluating the design intent, manufacturability, GD&T of components and assemblies specifications for transition into mass production.
- Reviewing design documents and specifications and working with the design team to finalize them.
- Conducting detailed assessments and critical DFM reviews of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications of components and assemblies.
- Providing analysis and recommendations for feature and manufacturing cost tradeoffs during the design phase.
- Identifying relevant manufacturing technologies for new design concepts and advising the design team on optimal execution methods.
- Identifying improvements and driving actions back to design or advancing processes with the sourcing team at the supplier or tooling improvements.
- Evaluating and finalizing inspection and test requirements.
- Working with the sourcing team to develop strategies for designs, including cost estimates or review of quotes for cost and tooling.
- Developing comprehensive, cost-effective manufacturing strategies, including supplier selection, to guide product sourcing decisions to meet cost targets.
- Collaborating on DFMEA and PFMEA with design and sourcing teams.
- Developing manufacturing cost models to inform design teams.
- Working with Contract Manufacturers (CM) to drive quality and cost improvements.
- Planning and managing scaled launch approaches for design concepts, matching timelines and concepts to the maturity of the design, from machined prototypes to fully tooled production.
- Managing the progression from prototype to full-scale manufacturing, including ROI justifications.
- Managing the manufacturing of prototypes for new product development, selecting appropriate prototype methods, and executing development to support design trials.
- Designing and developing fixtures and jigs for prototypes and production lines.
To be successful in this role you will need the following skills:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with a focus on Manufacturing.
- 5+ years in a manufacturing engineering role, including NPI or Contract Manufacturing experience.
- Experience manufacturing electro-mechanical products at scale, including machined, cast, forged, PCBA, cables, and plastic components.
- Experience taking a product from launch to scale.
- Design skills including GD&T, design validation, and inspection.
- Proficiency in Pro-E/Creo and/or SolidWorks.
- Experience with should-cost analysis and modeling to evaluate Cost of Goods.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
