Job summary

A growing manufacturing company in Ontario seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead development, redesign, and launch of new products. This hands‑on role partners with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Production to turn concepts into production‑ready designs and processes.

Responsibilities include DFМ/DFA design for manufacturability, leading NPI from concept through launch, FMEA and root‑cause action, and driving cost reductions while training teams on standard work and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of manufacturing engineering or product industrialization experience.
  • Experience taking a product from concept/design through production launch.
  • Strong 3D CAD and manufacturing drawing skills.
  • Experience with sheet metal, welding, mechanical assembly, fasteners, coatings, tolerances, and tooling.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA, PFMEA, Lean Manufacturing, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Experience with time studies, labour standards, and capacity planning.
  • Strong project management and cross‑functional communication skills.
  • Comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to the U.S.; Cross‑border travel is required.

  • Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and GD&T.
  • Design products for manufacturability and ease of assembly (DFM/DFA).
  • Select materials and simplify designs to reduce cost, parts, and assembly time.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, workflows, work cells, and layouts.
  • Identify and improve production bottlenecks, labour requirements, cycle times, and capacity.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment.
  • Lead prototype and pilot builds on the production floor.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) from concept through production launch.
  • Lead FMEA, quality planning, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain BOMs, drawings, work instructions, standard work, and inspection plans.
  • Train production teams and ensure processes are ready for full‑scale production.

Aplin has partnered with a growing manufacturing company to hire a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. In this role you will lead the development, redesign, and launch of new products. This is a hands‑on role working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to turn product concepts into efficient, production‑ready designs and processes.

Compensation
  • Expected salary range is $100,000 – $130,000 per annum, commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities

  • Experience with commercial vehicles, trailers, truck bodies, cabinets, storage systems, mobile workspaces, or metal fabrication.
  • Experience working with aluminum, steel, and composites.
  • ERP/PLM experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience.Experience with both Canadian and U.S. manufacturing operations.
  • Supplier development and make‑vs‑buy experience.
