Senior Managing Consultant, Advisors & Consulting Services, Strategy & Transformation - Acquiring Subject Matter Expert

Advisors & Consulting Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution. Our Advisors & Consulting Services team combines traditional management consulting with Mastercard’s rich data assets, proprietary platforms, and technologies to provide clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. Our teams work with a diverse global customer base across industries, from banking and payments to retail and restaurants.

The Advisors & Consulting Services group has five specializations: Strategy & Transformation, Performance Analytics, Business Experimentation, Marketing, and Program Management. Our Strategy & Transformation consultants lead clients through impactful decision-making as they tackle strategic, tactical, operational, and transformational business challenges. They apply a broad set of problem-solving techniques to improve the client’s overall strategy, performance, and operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

A Senior Managing Consultant focused on leading Acquirer client engagements across a variety of relevant topics which may be consulting in nature or data and analytics driven.

Client Impact

  • Lead a project delivery team providing best-in-class insights and solutions to support the growth, operations, innovation, and strategy of acquiring clients.
  • Act as a resource to others in identifying creative and efficient solutions and guide the team to business-focused solutions and recommendations that drive client value.
  • Develop strategies and programs for regional and global acquiring clients by leveraging data and technology solutions to unlock client value.
  • Own senior client relationships from mid-level to C-suite to drive commercial success.
  • Engage proactively on the client agenda, internal culture, and relationship risks.
  • Serve as a trusted business advisor and generate enthusiasm for Mastercard and our recommendations.

Team Collaboration & Culture

  • Guide team through complex problem solving to business-focused solutions that drive client value.
  • Motivate the project delivery team to produce high-quality deliverables and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Own relationships with internal Mastercard stakeholders including Product and Business Development to scope projects, create relevant solutions, and build the firm’s intellectual capital.
  • Mentor and coach junior teammates inside and outside of direct engagement teams.
  • Contribute to Mastercard’s Acceptance Consulting knowledge management and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Strong experience in acquiring, including senior roles at an acquirer or as a consultant supporting acquirers with operations, growth, product/service development, reporting.
  • Problem Solving: Lead teams to identify critical aspects of problems and guide towards business-focused solutions; initiate changes to project direction as needed.
  • Analytic Excellence: Demonstrate aptitude for structured problem solving and quantitative skills, leading effective technical capability usage.
  • Project Management: Interest in project delivery with business clients, understanding decision-making processes.
  • Client Management: Inspire confidence through reliable execution, develop stakeholder management plans.
  • Communication and Presence: Lead the creation of deliverables and communicate effectively in complex scenarios and with senior management.
  • Commercial Orientation: Identify opportunities to leverage services capabilities, including cross-selling and contracting activities.
  • Leadership: Instill urgency, ownership, and empowerment; align work with team goals and motivators.
  • Diverse Perspective: Bring unique skills or approaches to client engagements or activities.
  • Education: Undergraduate or master’s degree; CRCM, CFE certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of acquirer strategies, operations, growth drivers, and technology solutions.
  • Language: Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the country of application and willing to travel.
