Overview

What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Senior Director, Sustainability & Impact and Thought Leadership, this role is an opportunity to do meaningful work that aligns with your values. The Senior Manager will play an important enterprise role in shaping and delivering internal and external communications related to our Climate Blueprint, as well as reports and disclosures related to our sustainability actions. The Senior Manager will partner with key stakeholders in communications, business, climate, social media, marketing and other key partners to help strengthen RBC’s reputation through compelling storytelling of how the bank is driving impact for our clients, employees and communities.

What will you do?
  • Lead the development of executive communications and provide advisory support
  • Assist executives on communications for sustainability and climate strategies and plans
  • Develop communications strategy and storytelling content for priority initiatives, events and reports for sustainability and climate
  • Manage enterprise communications, national media relations and crisis/issues management
  • Provide strategic advice to key partners, and collaborate on significant change initiatives and programs as required
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 6+ years of communications experience with a proven track record for building trusted relationships and providing strategic advice and insight to executives, partners and teams
  • Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, English or related field
  • Excellent communications skills – written, verbal and interpersonal; strong review and editing skills
  • Experience with internal engagement strategies, external communications and media relations
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, connect the dots and simplify information
  • Deadline-driven and detail-oriented with excellent time management in juggling multiple projects and a broad scope of work

Nice-to-have

  • Change communications experience
