Job Description

The Social Sustainability team acts as a Centre of Excellence within the Personal Banking and Commercial Banking (PB & CB) businesses to deliver on RBC’s Purpose Framework.

The Senior Manager of Insights and Advisory will support the development and advancement of key social sustainability topics for PB & CB, particularly financial wellbeing and housing affordability.

The role will aim to: (1) build internal knowledge on key trends affecting the social sustainability of our clients and our communities (2) provide strategic options to address these trends and (3) disseminate insights to key business leaders.

The role will report to the Director of Social Sustainability Strategy.

What you will do

  • Conduct data-driven research on financial wellbeing and housing affordability trends that affect the social sustainability of our clients and communities, with a lens of how these trends will impact our business.
  • Develop monthly briefs with strategic recommendations on key topics to internal business leaders to deepen internal awareness and understanding.
  • Provide customized advisory support when requested to further advance analysis of key topics for product and segment leaders.
  • Ideate on opportunities by staying abreast of market trends and bringing outside-in view of social sustainability to our business (e.g., understanding competitor strategies, looking outside our industry to discover new ideas)
  • Support the broader advancement of RBC’s strategy to further advance social sustainability into products, services, content, and partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the enterprise including Thought Leadership and Sustainability & Impact to maintain a coordinated and consistent approach to social sustainability.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Deep commitment to social sustainability with a desire to make a positive impact for RBC’s clients and communities
  • Understanding of the financial services industry with a high degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Exceptional research and writing abilities, as well as aptitude with data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, including comfort with presenting to and driving active engagement from senior audiences
  • Proven relationship-management skills and ability to collaborate with a wide-range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strategic acumen and ability to provide advisory and consulting services
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to prioritize competing requests in a fast-paced environment with a get-it-done mentality.
  • Self-starter attitude with a high degree of comfort with ambiguity and a positive attitude.

Nice-to-have

  • Undergraduate / graduate degree in business
  • Experience working in business strategy, strategy consulting, innovation, and/or fintech
