What you’ll be doing

Risk Management is led by the Senior Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer and is accountable on matters relating to the independent oversight of the management of risks inherent to CIBC’s activities. Retail Risk Management (RRM) oversees the management of credit and fraud risk associated with the retail lines of credit and loans, residential mortgages portfolios, and credit risk for the credit card portfolio. Responsibilities for RRM include credit adjudication, the optimization of lending profitability through the development of effective credit risk guidelines, loan loss mitigation strategies and asset/revenue protection measures.

As Senior Manager, Real Estate Secured Lending Policy and Regulatory Initiatives, you will: lead RESL policy discussions, enhancements and deployment of RESL policy changes; manage regulatory initiatives to ensure successful implementation and ensure regulatory compliance; lead and develop policy and regulatory documentation to ensure clear and accurate communication of policy; establish and provide oversight on business processes, risk controls and other success metrics.

How you’ll succeed

  • Communication – You have well-developed interactive skills sufficient to convey or present factual and conceptual information on issues that require detailed explanation and interpretation. You have good writing skills to effectively communicate material through interpretation, analysis and assessment to articulate conclusions. You will provide credit risk management expertise, guidance and counsel to business partners during projects especially as it relates to development of robust operational processes that minimize/avoid any future operational credit risk issues in order to lower the bank’s risk profile.

  • Project management – You have the ability manage multiple and often competing priorities; and can deliver in a timely manner. You will also provide your expertise in setting priorities as well as in managing multiple teams to ensure deliverables are completed on time. This role will also be required to communicate timelines, dependencies, milestones and project impacts to stakeholders, partners, and senior leadership.

  • Business analysis– You have the ability to identify and analyze problems, recommend and develop effective solutions. You have knowledge of statistics to support reporting and analysis responsibilities. You have experience with development of risk segmentation strategies for acquisition, as well as associated automated decision systems, tools and technologies (eg. Decision Manager, TRIAD, or other such automated systems). You will review monthly portfolio reports, determine key portfolio risk trends and provide synopsis with commentary to the Senior Director, Real Estate Secured Lending.

  • Agile/adaptable - You will be able to prioritize current deliverables alongside ad-hoc business user, audit and urgent Executive requests. You have the ability to work under tight deadlines. You will be accountable for contributing to training within the Real Estate Secured Lending team aimed at enhancing the technical, business and risk knowledge of the team.
