As Senior Manager, Privacy Office (Canada), you will bring together leadership, compliance expertise, and relationship management to help our technology-focused business be dynamic and well-controlled. You will provide expert advice on privacy issues and legal requirements, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong background in financial industry regulations. You are a relationship builder experienced in influencing and consulting with diverse business leaders and stakeholders.

A day in the life of a Capital One Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance
Responsibilities:
  1. Work with the Chief Privacy Officer to oversee daily operations of the Privacy Program.
  2. Communicate regulatory developments and assist with implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance.
  3. Serve as a privacy SME, advising on federal and provincial regulations for new products and initiatives, including privacy impact assessments.
  4. Review processes and results, driving customer-focused solutions.
  5. Liaise with regulators, including the Privacy Commissioner, to respond to information requests and breach notifications.
  6. Participate in regulatory examinations and internal audits related to privacy.
  7. Investigate and respond to privacy requests, complaints, and inquiries.
  8. Develop and oversee activities of the Enterprise Privacy team for Canada.
  9. Assist the Chief Privacy Officer with privacy framework and policies in compliance with Canadian regulations.
  10. Support privacy training development and delivery to stakeholders.
  11. Understand external expectations and partner with leadership to ensure compliance.
  12. Identify emerging regulatory risks and drive mitigation strategies.
  13. Manage communication with Canadian regulators and convey positions on compliance issues.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 7 years in compliance, risk management, or legal role within a financial institution
  • At least 5 years in Privacy
  • At least 7 years working with Canadian banking laws and regulations
  • Proven record of innovation and process improvements
  • Ability to influence in a fast-paced, agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CIPP(C) / CIPM designation or equivalent
  • At least 3 years experience with audits and regulatory exams
