Equitable Bank's wholly-owned subsidiary, Concentra Bank, supports credit unions across Canada that serve more than six million members. Together we have over $125 billion in assets under management and administration, with a clear mandate to drive change in Canadian banking to enrich people's lives. Our customers have named our EQ Bank digital platform (eqbank.ca) one of the top banks in Canada on the Forbes World's Best Banks list since 2021.

The Work

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Management, CFG will be a key member of the Commercial Portfolio Management team. Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management, the incumbent will lead a team of Account Managers and assist the Sr. Manager in managing and overseeing an assigned portfolio of both conventional commercial and construction mortgages secured by all major asset classes across markets throughout Canada. The overall CFG portfolio is $3B+ in size, with loans ranging from $5 million to over $50 million.

Key responsibilities include managing, supervising, and mentoring a team of Account Managers and Underwriting Associates to ensure responsibilities are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and priorities. This includes ongoing loan monitoring, annual reviews, renewals, and amendments. Appropriate use of delegated authority to recommend and approve transactions is critical.

The Senior Manager will also support the bank’s goal of delivering a superior customer experience by ensuring team members understand and respond to client needs promptly. Developing and maintaining strong client relationships will also be a focus.

The core parts of your role would be to:

  • Provide support, guidance, and training to CFG Account Managers, identifying their needs and devising development plans.

  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues and broker partners to deliver excellent service.
  • Implement and maintain metrics to measure turnaround times and support service excellence.
  • Promote growth by effectively allocating resources to target 40% retention of CFG maturities.
  • Regularly report on the construction portfolio, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Review and approve sub-advance requests as delegated.
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and budget, working with partners to address overruns.
  • Support management of challenged facilities and process amendments post-closing.
  • Provide underwriting support as needed.

Let's Talk About You!

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of commercial lending, financial analysis, and Canadian regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with high integrity.
  • Customer service-oriented and adaptable to change.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Job Complexities/Thinking Challenges
