Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Toronto is seeking a Senior Manager, Permitting to lead the permitting team on a large-scale, airport program in the west end of Toronto.

The role delivers owner's permitting obligations, mentors staff, coordinates across departments, and provides executive-level reporting to enable informed decisions.

You will bring 15+ years in permitting with 10+ in on-site leadership and strong stakeholder engagement to navigate regulatory approvals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience with 10 in an on-site permitting management/leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years in large international airport projects or programs CAD $500M+.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is dedicated in engineering a better future for our planet and its people. AtkinsRéalis i s'hiring a Senior Manager, Permitting to join our growing team, based in Toronto.

The Senior Manager, Permitting will support a transformative large scale airport program and will be part of a high-performing project team based in the west end of Toronto.

Your role
  • Deliver the owner's permitting obligations.
  • Manage the Permitting team to effectively coordinate and assure a robust permit to work process across the program.
  • Develop and implement revised governance and processes required for effective permitting on a program of this size, scale, and complexity.
  • Liaise with the other departments including corporate safety and security, operations, commercial, and maintenance to coordinate permitting.
  • Confirm the contractors' Permitting plans and implement the assurance regime for the program.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Leads and the other PMO Services functional leads to ensure that Permitting is integrated across the program.
  • Provide Management and Executive level reporting and provide advice and subject matter expertise with respect to trends and corrective actions.
  • Provide advice and guidance with respect to permitting policy and regulations that impact program delivery.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of staff.
About you
  • Recognized degree and professional designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience with 10 in an on-site permitting management and/or leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in large international airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs greater than CAD $500M.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams to deliver permitting requirements on complex projects and programs.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships and providing strategic level reporting to enable effective decision making.
  • Able to demonstrate significant expertise in permitting including internal airport operational permits and external permits, approvals, and consents.
  • Good working knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements and their impact upon the permit to work process.
  • Strong technical capability in all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance preferably large program/projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders.
