This role can be based anywhere in the US or Canada.

The Role

In this strategic, client-facing position, you will oversee the consulting value chain, lead or support business development, engage in project delivery, and foster account development. You will be a regional thought leader, shaping and driving our Metals & Mining Industry strategy in collaboration with Practice Delivery Teams, while partnering with the regional Metals & Mining Industry Leader. You will drive revenue and profit growth in the Metals & Mining industry, working with thought leaders to innovate our approach and deliver exceptional client value.

Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the USC Metals & Mining Leader and be accountable for developing and leading junior team members, with a strong focus on business development and go-to-market strategy to support regional growth.
  • Client Acquisition: identify potential clients through research and network-building, scope projects with the Industry Leader, and prepare and deliver presentations tailored to client needs.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales targets; stay abreast of market trends and competitor activity to inform decisions.
  • Collaborate with the global Metals & Mining Industry Team to contribute to thought leadership, offerings, and methodologies, bringing global best practices to the USC market and clients.
  • Provide support for consulting business assessment and implementation engagements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client executives, maintaining and expanding relationships aligned with the account team; understand client needs and advise on solutions that add value.
  • Participate in internal and external industry networks to develop new business, working closely with the USC Marketing Team.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work with the consulting team to ensure effective delivery and coordinate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and materials.
Qualifications
  • Current knowledge of the Metals & Mining industry, including key trends, major players, risks, challenges, and value drivers.
  • Experience from both industry and management consulting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational risk, operational excellence, and sustainability practice lines; familiarity with industry solutions and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency, risk management, and sustainability for Metals & Mining clients.
  • Strong existing network of senior leaders in targeted Metals & Mining accounts.
  • More than 8 years of experience delivering growth and key services in transforming Metals & Mining companies.
  • Exceptional communication skills at the C-suite level; ability to drive business development, solution development, and high-quality delivery of key services.
  • Proven experience in managing, leading, and developing a team; solid foundation in account management with a focus on client retention, revenue growth, and satisfaction.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, results-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing consulting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or business; MBA or MS preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have a mix of industry and consulting background.
  • More than 8 years of professional experience in management consulting with deep understanding of services and how they benefit clients; well-versed in industry trends and challenges faced by prospective clients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a team-oriented attitude to collaborate within fast-paced, multicultural, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Travel between 50-70%.
