Job description

The Senior Manager, Marketing is a 12-month contract role responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and execution of our digital marketing efforts.

Our mission is to know what inspires, engages and motivates new, emerging and existing NFL fans, leveraging those insights to build deep connections with them, to create life-long fandom.

This role requires strong analytical skills and strategic thinking to uncover actionable business insights and translate them into impactful digital and consumer marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Fan Development, this position holds budget responsibility for these areas of the business and manages a team across digital marketing.

Responsibilities:

Digital Marketing

  • Lead the overall digital marketing plans to drive fan recruitment and engagement, providing strategic direction as to how to leverage digital marketing assets and channels
  • Define and refine the organic NFL Canada social media strategy across priority platforms, consistently optimizing based on competitive landscape, results, and changes within platforms
  • Develop a robust content roadmap across key tentpoles, local initiatives, and always on content for all social and digital platforms
  • Oversee our paid media investments, agency management and KPI tracking
  • Lead development and optimization of CRM & Database marketing across email, data acquisition, audience / personalization segmentation, and reporting
  • Oversee the creation and management of the Canadian NFL webpages, content, and lead generation tools to help market our local initiatives and maximize traffic to NFL.com
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends in digital communications and provide the business greater insights and opportunities to connect with fans in unique and different ways
  • Support and strategically consult Consumer Products, Corporate Sponsorship, Digital Products, Events, Community, and more on their content and digital marketing planning and execution
  • Collaborate with Player Marketing, Influencer / Creators, Clubs Partners to maximize content development, expand campaign support, and optimize where they fit in the strategy roadmap

Analytics and Strategy

  • Develop short- and long-term strategy and roadmaps
  • Liaise cross-functionally to leverage data and uncover insights to develop strategic initiatives to drive fan recruitment and engagement
  • Conduct market research and analyze competitive landscapes in partnership with the consumer insights team, including co-developing research briefs to ensure actionable outcomes
  • Tracking and analyzing key performance indicators to measure the success of all business areas, and provide actionable recommendations to optimize tactics to reach or exceed goals
  • Identify key fan insights each season, that can be translated into growth strategies and subsequent action plans for the fan development and marketing team

Media & Other Support

  • Plan and collaborate on the marketing calendar which leverages NFL institutional and Media Partner assets
  • Refine and evolve weekly tune-in strategy and content development to drive increased consumption of our programming & key in season moments; partnering with all media partners to help maximize efforts and coordinate execution
  • Provide strategic and executional support to our media team and partners to help improve collaboration and shared accountability on the performance KPIs
  • Ensuring all marketing efforts maintain consistent brand identity and messaging, working with our brand marketing team to localize key campaigns / tactics
  • Support execution of other marketing campaigns, events, etc. as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in strategy, consumer marketing, and/or digital
  • 2+ years of team management experience
  • Proven track record of generating breakthrough strategies for businesses, rooted in clear and actionable insights
  • A deep understanding of the business of sport, the media landscape and consumer trends, with a strong foundation in brand building fundamentals

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a 12-month contract position in our Toronto office, five days per week
  • Commitment is full-time work, 40 hours per week

$100,000 - $130,000 CAD

This role requires onsite presence at an NFL office or stadium location, and remote and/or hybrid working options are not offered.
