About the role

As ATB’s next Senior Manager, Investment Fund Accounting, you will support the preparation and audit of Investment Fund financial statements and other regulatory reporting for the investment products managed by ATB Investment Management Inc. (ATBIM). The successful candidate will support the team in managing day to day responsibilities that encompass the entire financial cycle, from daily fund accounting, NAV review, taxation and distributions.

Please note : This role is hybrid and can be based out of Calgary, Edmonton, or Toronto.

Accountabilities

  • Supports the annual and semi-annual financial reporting cycles, regulatory reporting and audits.
  • Supports day to day fund accounting, including portfolio & security valuation, daily NAV review, monitor and enhance internal controls.
  • Manages and monitors fund distributions, taxation of the investment funds.
  • Ensures financial reporting and accounting procedures comply with IFRS Accounting Standards,company policies, regulatory requirements and proactively identify opportunities to adapt and improve efficiency.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of business rules, processes, and accounting policies.
  • Keep abreast of changes in accounting pronouncements, taxation and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages annual fund expense budget and allocations, provides analysis and translation of complex financial concepts.
  • Liaison with third party service providers on day to day matters for accuracy of deliverables prepared by the team.
  • Participate in a variety of strategic initiatives and projects, supporting future product development, as well as the implementation of tools and technology that enhance our investment management capabilities.
  • Takes leadership role on opportunities to improve and enhance finance operations, with acute attention to impacts and opportunities, supports change initiatives.
  • Applies proactive, creative thinking to identify and navigate emerging trends; offers thought leadership that shapes company-wide strategy.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • CPA required experience in Public Practice is an asset.
  • Prior experience (8+ years) and advanced knowledge of fund accounting, security valuations, financial reporting, and related IFRS Accounting Standards.
  • Knowledge of mutual fund taxation and fund distributions.
  • Excellent writing, listening and presentation skills with a proven ability to disseminate information effectively to other team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to balance competing projects and priorities, delegate, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic with a results-focused approach and a proven track record of excellent performance and delivering results.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic that takes initiative and ownership and seeks out clarification and guidance as needed.
  • Critical thinking and ability to solve complex problems and explain in general terms to various audiences.
  • Well organized with a strong attention to detail and high quality of work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
