Qualifications

  • Insurance License.
  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the wealth management and insurance industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change initiatives, workforce planning, and operational improvement projects.
  • Industry accreditation such as CSC, CFP, CLU, or equivalent designation is considered an asset.

The Senior Manager is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Insurance business by providing strategic leadership and oversight of a regional team of Insurance Sales Associates (ISAs), Senior Insurance Sales Associates (SISAs), and Associate Insurance Servicing Advisors (AISAs). The role ensures a high level of sales and service support is delivered to Insurance Consultants while fostering a high-performing culture focused on coaching, development, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Purpose
Accountabilities
  • Leads and develops a regional team of ISAs, SISAs, and AISAs across multiple advisory teams. This includes ensuring service level standards are achieved; providing ongoing coaching and leadership support; managing escalated employee and performance-related concerns; creating opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and best-practice sharing; supporting career progression; and fostering an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Oversees regional staffing, workforce planning, and capacity management for ISA, SISA, and AISA roles, working closely with Regional Directors and Insurance Advisory teams. This includes developing and maintaining a framework to effectively manage business growth, volume fluctuations, vacancies, and changing business priorities while ensuring appropriate support models are maintained.
  • Partners with Regional Directors to ensure Insurance Advisory teams have the sales and servicing support required to effectively manage business volumes, deliver exceptional client experiences, and achieve business objectives.
  • Provides strategic leadership in the design, development, and implementation of initiatives that enhance insurance sales administration support. This includes gathering feedback from Insurance Advisory teams, ISAs, SISAs, AISAs, and SWIS leadership; collaborating with colleagues across Canadian Wealth Management, business lines, and support functions; identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency; and overseeing the successful execution of projects and key deliverables.
  • Promotes consistency and best practices across supported teams by identifying operational efficiencies, leveraging technology and automation opportunities, and implementing scalable solutions that enhance advisor and client support.
  • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of industry trends, competitor practices, and emerging opportunities related to insurance sales support. This includes building external industry relationships and leveraging insights to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Consistently does the right thing to keep the Bank safe and fosters a culture where team members, colleagues, customers, and stakeholders feel comfortable speaking up and raising concerns.
  • Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of business controls related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
