Overview:

As the senior HR partner for all LifeLabs corporate functions—including Finance, IT, Government Markets, HR, and Business and Consumer Markets—you’ll be responsible for crafting and implementing HR strategies focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, employee engagement, and labour relations. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your HR expertise, strategic thinking, coaching abilities, and change management knowledge. You will work closely with senior leaders to tackle complex people challenges and seize opportunities that drive LifeLabs’ transformation and growth. You will provide strategic guidance and proactive support to leaders, helping them achieve their business goals.

The Position:

As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will be the go-to advisor for business leaders, helping them navigate complex people issues with strategic insight. Your mission is to align HR with business goals, translating big-picture ideas into actionable HR plans. You'll spot trends, analyze data, and offer solutions to keep us ahead of the curve. You will advance HR goals and drive initiatives like Diversity, Talent, and Engagement within your assigned teams. Whether it’s rolling out new talent programs or crafting change management strategies, you will be at the forefront, ensuring everything runs smoothly. You will work with the Employee and Labour Relations team to handle tricky situations, ensuring policies are followed and issues are resolved in line with company values. Additionally, you’ll coach and develop the HR team, build a pipeline of future leaders, and foster strong organizational partnerships.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide Business Leaders with Strategic and Consultative Advice on Complex People Matters
    • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing strategic advice and coaching on complex people issues.
    • Translate business priorities into an HR agenda that supports transformation.
    • Identify emerging people issues and trends, analyze data, and partner with HR Centres of Expertise as needed.
    • Assess organizational impacts, risks, and change management strategies related to business plans.
    • Monitor talent health and advise on organizational effectiveness.
    • Leverage digital tools and analytics for data-driven decision making.
  2. Advance HR Goals and Priorities, Enable the People Strategy, and Deliver the HR Plan
    • Champion the HR plan and lead initiatives to advance HR priorities.
    • Partner with HR and business leaders to deliver the People and Culture strategy.
    • Guide and lead HR initiatives within assigned functions, including Diversity, Performance, Talent, and Engagement.
    • Develop change management strategies to support transformation.
    • Implement new talent programs and models.
    • Support talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies.
    • Participate in continuous improvement and HR projects.
  3. Strategic Employee and Labour Relations
    • Analyze situations and partner with ER/LR COE to develop strategies.
    • Ensure policy adherence and legislative compliance.
    • Manage complex employee relations issues with guidance from ER/LR COE.
    • Assess investigation findings and develop implementation plans.
  4. Develop and Coach the HR Team
    • Support capability development and build a talent pipeline for future HR leaders.
    • Model company values and build strong partnerships with HR functions and the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources, or related field. We welcome candidates regardless of education if qualified.
  • Significant HR/business experience, especially in HR generalist/business partner roles, organizational effectiveness, and program management.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with executives, influence, and drive change.
  • Experience with data analysis supporting decision-making.
  • Strategic thinking, business acumen, and consulting skills.
  • Experience with change management and leadership development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including summarizing for executives.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Location:

This is a hybrid role.

Salary Range:

$93,000 - $136,000, with final salary based on experience, education, market conditions, and internal equity. Eligible for annual bonus.
