What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Home Equity Finance (HEF) Analytics will be key member of a high-performance team responsible for establishing HEF at the forefront of advanced analytics and insights. The primary responsibility of the role is to deliver on the analytical priorities for the HEF Business team, primarily for the Acquisition and Distribution teams. This will entail leveraging data-driven methodologies to deliver insights that will enable better understanding of client behaviour and trends to help formulate strategies for business optimization, financial performance management, and product / client profitability. In addition, this role will be the primary source for all competitive benchmarking data and insights for the HEF business, with opportunities to share findings and insights with the senior leadership team.
What will you do?
Advanced Analytics
- Leverage data-driven tactics to provide analytical and business insights to support the leadership group in active management of the HEF portfolio.
- Provide analytical support to stakeholders by leading/participating in deep-dive analyses to understand business opportunities and inform future strategy development.
- Proactively identify areas of improvement for the HEF portfolio to drive the following: incremental balance growth, capture of market share, revenue generation, ROE optimization and the realization of cost efficiencies.
- Work collaboratively and advise on business decisions through use of analytics, measurement of key performance indicators, and early detection of trends & anomalies.
- Develop and maintain report-backs on success of initiatives with regular cadence to ensure effective monitoring of expected outcomes. Communicate results to key stakeholders and ensure insights are managed to optimize future activities.
Portfolio Management
- Deliver regular updates on the Monthly Business Review (MBR) providing key business intelligence to the Home Equity Finance leadership team and supporting partners.
- Produce market share results on a monthly and quarterly basis, providing deep dives and analysis on trends to Senior Leadership to validate / inform business strategy and outcomes.
- Pursue new data sources and innovative approaches to measure RBC’s performance in the mortgage space.
- Support the development, and ongoing updates, to the Quarterly Competitive analysis shared with senior executives across HEF and Personal Banking.
- Support the development of future-state tools and capabilities to drive value-added insights and transparency for users across the organization. Leverage automation tools to realize efficiencies and liberate capacity to focus on insight generation.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- 3+ years of analytics experience in the Financial Services industry
- Technical skills required: Proficient in use of SAS, SQL, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, or other data visualization tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to impact and influence peers, partners and senior leaders.
- Strong collaboration and time management-skills with high attention to detail
- Intellectually curious, growth mindset with bias for action, ability to think strategically while remaining focused on the timely achievement of outcomes
Nice to have:
- Previous roles in Product Management, Credit Strategy or Financial Analysis within the Financial Services industry.
- Technical skills: proficiency in other programming languages (i.e. Python, Spark SQL, etc.)
- Proficient knowledge of data infrastructure and automation tools
- Predictive modeling background (statistical analysis, Machine Learning, AI)
- Deep understanding of the mortgage industry, including the financial drivers of the business
- Bachelors /Masters degree in a quantitative field is (e.g. Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.)
