Purpose

The role of Senior Manager, Global Compliance & AML Reporting and Insights supports the delivery of high-quality insights to the function’s Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Director, Governance, Reporting & Strategic Support, this role supports the preparation of Senior Management Committee and Board updates. The role involves delivering accurate, timely, and multifaceted reporting designed to be used in decision making, to report the Bank’s adherence to established policies and regulations, as well as alignment on evolving global regulatory expectations. The Senior Manager will partner closely with the function’s business partners to develop clear, concise, and insightful reports/analysis with clear and effective communication and calls to action.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create high-impact presentations for Senior-level Executive audiences to influence action on strategic recommendations as well as the state of and adherence to established policies and processes at the enterprise level (e.g., Compliance CCO Opinion Report, Compliance Risk Oversight Committee Report, and ad-hoc reports).
  • Conduct analysis and provide effective challenge to support strategic recommendations and consider the “big picture” in terms of the group as well as regulatory and enterprise-wide requirements/goals.
  • Engage with Senior Management to review and discuss the analysis and results of their work.
  • Translate strategic priorities into practical action plans and develop KPIs to effectively measure the impact and outcomes.
  • Work with Data and Analytics partners to develop and maintain reporting dashboards to support accurate and timely complex reporting, reviewing for opportunities to improve, through automation and standardization.
  • Act as a relationship manager on assigned projects/programs, owning and enhancing strategic relationships with key stakeholders contributing to the reporting as well as recipients of the information from key partners (e.g. Finance, Compliance Business Line leads, etc.).
  • Comprehend and integrate the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture into daily activities and decision-making processes.
  • Create an environment in which they and their team pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education/Experience
  • University degree in Business or Finance is desirable, with experience in Compliance, AML, Risk, or consulting preferred.
  • 4+ years of banking/financial services experience with an emphasis on supporting executive/Board-level reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations, products & services, risk management, and operations in a global setting, including an understanding of compliance reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical acumen and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Independent self-starter who can manage multiple priorities to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing a high-performing team and developing talent.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Site Management experience is a plus.
