Reports to : Vice President, Financial Reporting & Tax

Role Overview : Reporting directly to the Vice President, Financial Reporting & Tax this role will help manage the group to ensure internal and external deadlines are met for private real estate investment funds. These include financial reporting and analysis, tax, and lender compliance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Review financial statements for both internal and external users and working within fixed deadlines
  • Review monthly working paper files and year-end audit working paper files within scheduled deadlines
  • Responsible for reporting deadlines with auditors and tax consultants
  • Review annual Canadian and US tax returns for limited partnerships and corporations
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly cash projections and analyses for quarterly distributions
  • Assist accountants in preparation of investor reports and respond to inbound investor inquiries, as necessary
  • Review and approve payments from the Fund’s for which this position has responsibility
  • Assist the department leadership with complex accounting issues such as purchases, sales, reorganizations, and impairment
  • Coach and mentor accountants
  • Perform special ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required

Qualifications :

  • 4 years of related financial reporting experience at a public accounting firm
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and / or IFRS required
  • 1-2 years of people management experience
  • US GAAP and / or IFRS financial statements
  • Real estate or investment company experience is preferred
  • Experience in multiple entity consolidation with inter-company activities
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and time management skills required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Strong organization skills and detail oriented
  • Individual must be motivated, deadline-oriented and work well with others
  • Good business judgment and ability to perform multiple tasks without frequent direction.
  • Resourceful; able to solve problems and work independently.
  • Knowledge of Yardi is preferred
