Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be managing the preparation and analysis of financial reporting. This position will be responsible for managing 1 manger of financial reporting and 2 financial reporting analysts, responsible for the month end financial close, manage the preparation of internal and external reporting to senior management and shareholders and working directly with external auditors and ad hoc special projects as needed.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be managing the preparation and analysis of financial reporting. This position will be responsible for managing 1 manger of financial reporting and 2 financial reporting analysts, responsible for the month end financial close, manage the preparation of internal and external reporting to senior management and shareholders and working directly with external auditors and ad hoc special projects as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the monthly and quarterly internal reporting for senior management, and external reporting for shareholders prepared under IFRS accounting standards, audit committee materials, and quarterly SEDAR filing
  • On going process and document improvements with updating reporting format and content to highlight relevant information for the quarter or year end
  • Responsible for management of General Ledger and month end closing
  • Managing financial analysts looking after monthly journal entries, preparation of reporting and analysis, and management of fixed assets
  • Involvement with Workday implementation project and reporting and workflow process improvements
  • Managing deliverables for external auditors for quarterly review engagement and annual audit
  • Help with internal audit requests as needed
  • Other special projects as needed (ex. FMV determination of asset information used for insurance purposes, help with property tax valuation project; run meetings on property damages AR, etc)


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years working experience in an accounting or finance environment, exposure to IFRS and Public financial reporting and analysis is required.
  • CPA designation is required
  • Sound experience in IFRS standards and public reporting with SEDAR
  • Sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills in a team setting.
  • Organizational skills and time management skills; planning and project management, and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Must be pro-active and have a positive attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to articulate quantitative and qualitative results.
  • Exceptional working of MS applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft accounting software would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently, effectively in cross-functional work teams, fast-paced and collaborative environment, and able to meet targets and tight deadlines.
