Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Key business and finance contact for Insurance legal entity and regulatory reporting. Lead reviewer and people manager for Finance team responsible for legal and regulatory reporting, core month-end finance tasks, variance commentary and analysis for management and regulators. Responsible for keeping senior management and Finance partners informed with ongoing insights and analysis for all legal entity reporting requirements as well as raising concerns that require senior management attention on a timely basis.
What will you do?
Primary contact for management, direct reports, business and finance partners, internal and external auditors, and regulators on monthly, quarterly, or annual legal entity and regulatory reporting.
Support Finance with month-end reporting and other key finance deliverables, including tax remittances and transfer pricing.
Responsible for Legal Entity reporting including review of Financial Statements, OSFI submissions, Segregated Funds reporting and their associated audits.
Manage and support a team of finance professionals, developing them towards their career development goals while driving collaborative results aligned to RBC’s vision, values, and objectives.
Draw on finance expertise to provide advice, analysis and reporting insights to senior management, regulators and other stakeholders to improve decision making, understanding of trends, risks, opportunities and variances.
Develop new and enhanced variance commentary and insights.
Partner with stakeholders, including regulators and auditors, to implement changes or enhancements to processes and deliverables.
Identifies areas where processes may be improved and implement changes as necessary to streamline procedures and reporting.
Support business and finance partners in the month-end reporting cycle.
Key role in reviewing and recommending accounting and reporting policy pertaining to legal entity and regulatory reporting. Impact and risk related to completeness and accuracy for presentation of legal entity results & disclosures, including detailed variance analysis, for senior management signoff.
The position ensures the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial information, including, but not limited to, legal entity statements and statutory regulatory returns, tax remittances and transfer pricing.
This position supports explanation of financial results, highlighting risks to the enterprise, governance over financial and legal entity reporting, and process enhancements.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong working knowledge of IFRS 17 reporting and disclosures.
Mindset for enhancing controls, innovation, and challenging accepted norms.
Industry experience and financial reporting knowledge with the ability to communicate complex concepts concisely to technical and non-technical audiences, in written and verbal forms, and to Senior Management.
Experience managing a team and driving team performance to support RBC’s vision and goals.
Comfort with delegation of tasks to individuals both inside and outside direct area of influence.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Teamwork, collaboration, and co-operation is a requirement.
Post secondary Accounting or Finance education and completion of a recognized professional designation (CA, CGA, CMA) or MBA or equivalent experience.
Experience with legal entity and regulatory reporting requirements for Financial Institutions.
