What is the Opportunity?
To conduct 2LoD validations / testing of issue management / controls within central functions and US businesses, including AML, Sanctions, and ABAC. This involves proactive participation in oversight planning and scoping, fieldwork, and reporting. Continuous communication with stakeholders and Senior Management regarding issue management findings is also required.

What will you do?
- Perform effective challenge of Financial Crime issue closures under FCOT’s purview.
- Lead validation of Financial Crime issue closures in US & Canada, confirming control/process sustainability to mitigate repeat issues. Support validations for other regions as needed.
- Document and maintain a validation activities schedule and communicate plans with stakeholders.
- Support development of FCOT’s Framework for Issue Management/Validation, including standards, procedures, and tools.
- Provide training on FCOT’s Issue Management/Validation Framework.
- Challenge the quality and risk-appropriateness of examination findings and action plans, including issue ratings.
- Oversee Financial Crimes Issues Management activities, ensuring timely resolution and visibility of issues needing extension or escalation.
- Conduct post-mortem reviews of issues raised by assurance teams to identify areas for improvement.
Oversight and Reporting Activities
- Develop and deliver regular metrics and reports on FCOT’s oversight activities to stakeholders and senior management.
- Support senior management during audits and regulatory engagements.
- Analyze trends in Financial Crime Issues.
- Stay informed on regulatory trends and industry best practices.
- Contribute to projects related to operationalizing the Enterprise Issue Management program.

- Participate in internal projects and meetings to anticipate changes impacting oversight validation.
- Maintain documentation for audit and regulatory review.
- Identify personal development opportunities and industry trends.
- Demonstrate adaptability and a service-oriented approach.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of Financial Crimes legislation to enhance testing effectiveness.
- Support as a subject matter expert in the field.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- 5-7 years of AML SME experience within a 2nd line or audit testing function.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Nice to have:
- Certifications such as CAMS, ICA AML, CIA, or ACFS.
- Knowledge of international AML laws and regulations.
- Experience with RBC or other financial institutions’ major business segments.
- Experience as an AML SME within an audit/testing function.
