Senior Manager, Finance - 12 Month Contract

This position plays a key role providing financial support to the No Frills Finance team of the Hard Discount Division. The successful candidate will contribute to the Finance team’s ability to provide Data Driven Insights and is expected to drive cross-functional teams and command strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day financial support, reporting and analysis
  • Provide weekly and period forecasts in conjunction with business partners
  • Develop insights and recommendations for business results and discuss with business partners to help the business achieve targets
  • Conduct detailed financial report reviews each period, which includes preparation of Period End presentations
  • Review Latest Estimates to ensure reasonability (factoring in trends and/or external factors)
  • Preparation of annual budgets by store and banner
  • Responsible for tracking/preparing period end entries and ensuring accurate reporting
  • Meet with business partners regularly to understand resource requirements to support the business areas
  • Ensure that all processes have been accurately detailed to allow for smoother transitions and prioritization
  • Liaise with other functional areas (Accounting, Finance, Operations, Inventory and Procurement) to co-ordinate cross-functional analysis and data accumulation
  • Complete ad hoc analyses on an as needed basis

Role Requirements:

  • Completion of CA/CMA/CGA and/or MBA designation is an asset
  • 3-5 years of meaningful work experience or a similar combination of education and relevant work experience in an analytical / business planning role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and understand a variety of business models
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Strong technical skills (accounting practices/standards, digital literacy, etc.)
  • Proactive individual, able to efficiently manage several priorities simultaneously
  • Proven track record of interacting with people at various levels
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on verbal reasoning, conflict resolution and listening skills
