Reporting to the VP , Technology Operations & Architecture, the Senior Manager , Enterprise Architecture is responsible for driving architectural changes that shape how BCI delivers world-class investment services . The Senior Manager plays a key role in driving technology-enabled enterprise change by applying an understanding of digital trends and innovative solutions to meet evolving business and technical needs. S/he collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels of the organization to achieve short- and long-term objectives . The position is based in Victoria.
The Technology department is a strategic partner with BCI’s business areas. It enables investment processes and business activities that contribute to the achievement of BCI’s mission and long-term goals. The depa rtment enables digital transformation and innovation and creates the digital capabilities that support and enable BCI to innovate, modernize service and product offerings guided by best practices, and drive a digitally empowered workplace through new collaboration and productivity ecosystems. The department is also responsible for providing the foundational infrastructure, systems, business applications, and advanced technologies for the front, middle, and back office.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in Enterprise and/or Solution Architecture. Demonstrated experience in a senior managerial or leadership role
Extensive experience in driving digital transformation and technology innovation initiatives, Proven track record of transitioning to cloud technologies and modern architecture practices
Deep understanding of architecture domains and comprehensive knowledge of related areas such as security, application development, and data management within an Agile hybrid environment
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, Ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders
Proven ability to lead and facilitate group sessions, Experience in driving collaborative discussions and achieving consensus
Strong capability in coaching and mentoring teams on architecture concepts and practices
TOGAF Certification Desired, demonstrating a strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
In-depth knowledge of the investment management industry or financial services is preferred
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex projects
Lead s collaboration with Technology teams and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of enterprise architecture with the organization’s strategic business objectives
Develop s and oversee s the implementation of enterprise architecture frameworks that effectively support business strategies and drive organizational change
Establish es and maintain s architecture governance practices by developing and enforcing policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency across architecture domains
Analyze s and anticipate s technology trends to assess their impact and applicability, informing strategic decisions and innovation within the organization
Drive s the development of digital strategies that enhance user experiences and optimize the introduction of new or improved technologies
Shape s the future of our technology landscape and establish modern architecture practices at BCI
Facilitate s a common understanding of digital strategies by leading feasibility studies, proofs of concept, and options analysis to inform decision-making
Deliver s impactful communications to technical and non-technical audiences to articulate the vision and progress of digital transformation initiatives
Provide s senior-level technical leadership and expertise to guide the Technology team and other stakeholders on future state architectures and complex technical challenges
Lead s the Architecture Working Group (AWG) and Architecture Review Board (ARB) activities to ensure alignment of business strategies and transformation initiatives with architectural plans from initiation to execution
Collaborate s closely with Business Solution Engineers and architecture practitioners to design and implement high-value prototypes that demonstrate innovative solutions
Mentor s and develop s architecture team members by fostering a community of practice that promotes collaboration and alignment on architecture methodologies
Cultivate s a supportive and high-performing work environment through effective communication, teamwork, and recognition of team contributions and achievements
Manage s financial resources within the allocated budget for assigned areas, ensuring financial accountability and recommending corrective actions as necessary
Maintain s expert knowledge in the field through continuous learning and engagement with professional networks and industry developments
Lead s special projects or assignments as required to advance organizational goals
Perform s other related duties as necessary to support the Technology department
Work from our downtown Victoria office. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week.
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $124,000 - $ 155 ,000.
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
