Job Description

As a Senior Manager passionate about sustainability, you will be pivotal in leading energy conservation and decarbonization programs, primarily in commercial buildings. Reporting to the COO, you will leverage recognized standards, protocols, frameworks, and methodologies to drive organizational energy management, carbon footprint assessments and decarbonization initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive low-carbon roadmaps, aligned with emission reduction targets, capital planning cycles, operational capacity, and customer goals.
  • Evaluate and prioritize decarbonization initiatives through benchmarking, energy audits, and financial, business, and environmental assessments at both portfolio and facility levels.
  • Lead energy conservation and decarbonization projects (e.g., lighting, HVAC upgrades, renewable energy implementation) and integrate them into a comprehensive decarbonization strategy.
  • Oversee ASHRAE Level 1-3 energy assessments, with a focus on retrofit energy conservation and decarbonization solutions.
  • Use industry best practices and case studies to develop net-zero pathways and multi-scenario decarbonization strategies.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and outcomes, ensuring clear documentation from planning to implementation.
  • Manage robust data processes to accurately track, report, and validate GHG emissions and assist clients in maintaining these systems.
  • Provide expert advice and training to team members and clients on energy, GHG management, and decarbonization practices.
  • Oversee technical, regulatory, commercial, and contractual aspects of GHG inventory and decarbonization projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in commercial building audits and retrofit projects, with a focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization.
  • Proven expertise in managing decarbonization and retrofit projects, including a solid understanding of clean energy technologies.
  • Strong background in program management, feasibility studies, financial analysis, and mechanical system design for energy efficiency.
  • Advanced skills in using RetScreen and other industry-standard tools to develop decarbonization roadmaps at site and portfolio levels.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Experience in developing and refining processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures for energy efficiency and GHG management.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field of Engineering.
  • Mandatory P.Eng registration (preferably with EGBC).

Certification Required

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is mandarory.
  • Certificate in GHG Accounting and relevant certification in decarbonization.

  • Remote in Canada

Job Type

Permanent, Full-time

$75 - $100k per annum.

A comprehensive, flexible benefits plan is available after three months of employment.
