The Sr. Manager, Promo Process is accountable for ensuring the Home and Entertainment (H&E) and HABA Business Unit has the promotional plans in place to support achieving budgeted sales and profit in each Division. With a deep understanding of how each category trades promotionally, this individual will work collaboratively with the Merchandising team to establish promotional strategy and drives accountability in achieving financial targets. This individual will also drive the annual and quarterly planning to ensure the Divisions have visibility to our strategy and financial objectives, and will provide guidance to the Divisional Pricing and Promotion teams as needed for H&E and HABA. This individual will be responsible of our Promo Reporting (On-time planning, Financial Roll-ups, Flyer/Promotional Performance) and escalating issues where we are off plan to find resolution with the Merchandising team.

Accountabilities:

  • Create Flyer and Seasonal promotional plan based on Category strategy
  • Coordinate Category submissions through collective planning for promo planning
  • Provide visibility to Sr. Leadership team on planned promotions from system to provide financial roll-ups
  • Compare system financial roll-up to promo targets and make recommendations on how to close any gaps in sales or profit
  • Highlight planned promotions that are inefficient or off-strategy and engage with category teams for resolution
  • Provide guidance/visibility to H&E/HABA on annual promotional calendar
  • Partner and coordinate planning sessions with Category Directors and Merchants on promotional anchors such as Front Pages, Promotional Stunts, Books/Inserts to ensure we have thoughtful plan.
  • Provide inputs to banner promotional plan as needed (quarterly/periodic)
  • Provide inputs to Marketing team on programs that require marketing support
  • Align on strategy and tactics for Marketing/Flyer programs and communicate to stakeholders
  • Weekly analysis of promotional performance by Division to understand how actual results came in compared to plan
  • Contribute to upcoming promo plans through the program governance and phasing decks and post-mortem recaps
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education (finance, business, economics)
  • Ability to multi-task & prioritize with a high sense of urgency.
  • Detailed oriented and well organized.
  • Advanced MS Excel and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with Query Tools including Microstrategy and SAP
  • Very strong communication skills (both written & verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability
  • Track record of defining and following processes, and drives continuous improvement to refine as needed
  • Highly skilled at creating financial reporting that provides relevant and useful information for different audiences.
  • Previous experience in retail operations and/or merchandising/promotional planning preferred.
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills
