Job description

We are looking for a collaborative people-focused and adaptable Senior Manager to support a portfolio of licensed child care and camp programs across the Southern Interior of BC. This role is key to advancing our strategic goals ensuring program quality and contributing to a strong values-driven leadership culture.

As part of the Child Care leadership team you will work closely with a team of senior managers contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment where ideas are shared challenges are addressed together and successes are celebrated. Youll provide coaching and operational guidance to managers and supervisors helping them grow as leaders and ensuring that programs reflect YMCA values of respect honestly responsibility caring and belonging.

Youll also support licensing compliance across the portfolioincluding assisting with licensing requirements and processes involved in the development of future sitesto ensure high-quality licensed care environments.

This role requires the ability to oversee child care locations in Penticton Kelowna Lake Country and other areas across the Southern Interior of BC.

  • Responsible for the overall budget management for a revenue size of $2 Million in addition implements best business practices within the division
  • Oversees departmental operations and creating a positive work environment where employees feel empowered valued and excited
  • Implements and meets the strategic commitments and targets set in the child care divisions and association annual operating plan and budget
  • Entails obtaining financial goals such as revenue generation and investment in child care services community engagement other special projects while ensuring the programs operate efficiently while meeting quality control and contractual obligations.
  • Ensures new staff and child care supervisors / managers are trained with new business systems and procedures that pertain to their work and to aid in the overall business practices in the CC division
  • Provides strategic leadership to the Child Care division; is responsible for guiding coaching and ensuring achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Develops staff towards their career goals with regarding the internal and external training opportunities
  • Provides support to managers / supervisors regarding staff / parenting issues empowering them to use Courageous Conversation training
  • Knowledge of Child Care Licensing regulations and ability to train staff with this knowledge
  • May support licensing applications and operations as required leading up to and including the successful opening of the site
  • Supports and leading in the opening of new Child Care locations in Penticton and Kelowna
  • Responsible for negotiating solutions and contractual terms with community partners such as Okanagan College and School Districts.
  • Provides leadership on funding proposals; writes and submits on behalf of the Association to support and further philanthropy of the YMCA of Southern Interior BC
  • Responsible for the Child Care divisions overall compliance with contracts provincial legislation and licensing requirements
  • Adheres with applicable YMCA Policy and Procedures Child care facility regulations child protection and safeguarding legal requirements and YMCA Playing to Learn & Healthy Child Development curriculum standards.
  • Ensures child care staff closely follow Healthy Child Development YMCA Play to Learn and A Place to Connect curriculum and quality of programming is at the forefront
  • Takes a high degree of initiative; develops new ideas and recommends new processes to improve quality and delivery of Child Care throughout the Association.
  • Faces multiple demands and deadlines while providing ongoing support to Managers administrator and Staff within the division dealing with day-to-day interruptions from the strategic initiatives.
  • Participates in YMCA of Southern Interior BC philanthropic opportunities through volunteerism initiatives.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in people management preferably within the community / social services sector that also includes budgetary / fiscal management.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem-solving skills and strong business writing skills
  • Ability to be flexible adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
  • High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
  • Can work to achieve strategic goals through operational planning
  • Drivers license is required (mileage is compensated). This position does require travel between Penticton Kelowna and Lake Country child care locations.
  • Has or willing to obtain Class 4 and ability to train staff towards license
  • Strong knowledge of child growth and development family relations and family centered practices
  • Experience in full cycle recruitment process and development of key staff
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Current Early Childhood Education and Infant Toddler or Special Needs certification and valid BC ECE License to Practice

Compensation :

  • Full Time Maternity Leave Position until December 2026
  • 61734.40 annual salary plus ECE-WE $6 / hr if applicable
  • Up to 3 weeks paid vacation
