The Risk Management Senior Manager is responsible for risk management within established parameters, leading special initiatives and collaborating with teams across policy, PMO, Advanced Analytics, Operations, IT, and others. This role supports processes to maximize profitability and shareholder value for Scotiabank International, focusing on risk strategies in the Caribbean region using tools like TRIAD, OMDM, TSYS, Strategy Director, Probe, and Decision Modeler. The Senior Manager will lead a team of risk professionals to implement policies, strategies, and models across the lifecycle to foster growth within risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership and Culture: Lead a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage bank systems and knowledge.
  2. Project Management: Manage critical transformational projects as lead and SME for Credit Risk Management in the Caribbean.
  3. Collaboration: Work with multiple teams including Products, Sales, Risk, and IT, promoting a risk-aware culture.
  4. Technology Utilization: Use tools like TRIAD, OMDM, TSYS, and Strategy Director to ensure profitable growth and policy implementation.
  5. Customer Management Strategies: Lead initiatives on credit line management, authorization, and credit card re-issuance.
  6. Operational Improvements: Enhance risk/return trade-offs and manage delinquency and losses.
  7. Growth Support: Collaborate with IB Partners to support growth and profitability initiatives.
  8. Staff Development: Coach staff, support performance, identify high potentials, and foster development.
  9. Risk Culture and Compliance: Ensure day-to-day activities align with risk appetite, values, and compliance standards.
  10. Team Environment: Build a high-performance, inclusive environment with succession planning and motivation.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields. Some knowledge of accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with SAS, R, or Python is required.
  • Strong skills in data management, quantitative modeling, and credit risk modeling (PD, LGD).
  • Knowledge of stress testing, IFRS 9, and bank financial metrics is an asset.
  • Technical skills in TSYS, FDR, Angoss, Model Builder, distributed systems, and cloud computing are desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in retail credit risk management across multiple locations.
  • High technical and analytical expertise balanced with business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
