A leading Canadian bank in Toronto is seeking a Risk Management Advisor to provide strategic risk advisory services to stakeholders in the Automotive Finance sector. You will ensure compliance with policies, manage risk mitigation processes, and promote a strong risk awareness culture. What is the opportunity?
In the role, you will report to the Director, Business Risk Management, as part of a team that provides risk advisory to PFP line of business stakeholders (Automotive Finance and PayPlan) to enable key projects & initiatives. As a strategic advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring comprehensive risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring across all risk types in accordance with Enterprise Risk Framework. You will be accountable for enabling strategy and sustainment of a strong risk culture, through effective championing of risk management practices.
Business risk lead on projects and initiatives as a risk SME, providing advice and counsel on all risk related matters, assessing compliance with policy and regulatory requirements, reviewing controls, and supporting processes.
Promote a strong risk awareness culture.
Collaborate with program and product teams, as well as risk partners (1b and 2LOD), to ensure projects and initiatives adhere to policy and regulatory compliance requirements and within the businesses’ risk appetite.
Ensure LOB and sustain a strong control eco-system, while enabling PFP business growth and shareholder value.
Identify the need for enhanced controls (e.g., automated controls); and other testing where required including assisting with the development and design of high-quality controls.
Ensure that control design & testing sufficiently mitigate identified risks.
Ensure controls are documented in ORMS in accordance with Internal Control Management Policies.
Oversight and management of timely and effective resolution of all known risk issues (e.g., self-identified issues, risk appetite breaches, operational risk events, regulatory compliance issues, Internal Audit findings, Quality Assurance reporting).
Must have:
5-7+ years of experience with relevant expertise in risk management, with a focus on operational risk management
Strong influencing, collaboration, relationship building and communication skills.
Ability to effectively understand and balance the risk / reward equation in all initiatives.
Solid knowledge of RBC’s business and functional units
Proven leadership, facilitation, and negotiation skills
Strong business acumen and understanding of processes, systems, technologies, and strategic priorities.
Solid understanding of RBC's Risk Management and Operational Risk Management frameworks.
Ability to respond and react appropriately to shifting priorities.
Proven change management capabilities
Nice to have:
Experience in 2LOD Functions (e.g., Compliance, GRM or Internal Audit)
Undergrad / postgrad degree
