Senior Manager, Balance Sheet Market Risk

The Balance Sheet Market Risk team provides independent oversight of the Bank’s structural balance sheet risks, including interest rate risk and FX risks, as well as transfer pricing, hedging, and investment strategies executed by Group Treasury (GT) and other treasury units.

The Senior Manager will focus on second-line oversight of these risks, emphasizing measurement, trend analysis, model parameter setting, and reviewing the first line's processes. The role involves providing insights on the Bank’s SIRR and FX risk profiles to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Bank's structural interest rate risk, ensuring effective communication of risk metrics and market conditions.
  • Challenge and improve risk measurement and management practices, identifying gaps and opportunities for alignment.
  • Provide oversight for timely, accurate risk reports for stakeholders including the Board, ALCO, TRC, OSFI, and senior management.
  • Lead independent reviews of the first line's processes, assessing their adequacy and effectiveness, and report findings annually.
  • Review ALM modeling parameters and collaborate with modeling teams to recommend improvements, ensuring process enhancements and alignment with market changes.
  • Maintain and update the structural interest rate risk framework to reflect the Bank’s ALM management process.
  • Participate in ad hoc analyses, projects, and working groups as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a quantitative field (preferred).
  • CFA and/or FRM designation (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in Treasury, ALM, Risk Management, Modeling, or Capital Markets.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products and capital markets, with understanding of retail banking, investments, and hedging strategies.
  • Expertise in ALM modeling concepts, including impact on risk metrics such as Gap, Duration, DV01, VaR, etc.
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills, and ability to develop operational frameworks and controls.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (VBA, SQL, Power BI, Tableau) and familiarity with ALM tools (RiskWatch, Bancware, QRM).
  • Excellent communication skills.
