Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Audit Department globally as part of the global Audit Professional Practice team. Reporting to the Director, Governance and Reporting and working closely with the Vice President, the incumbent is an integral member of the Professional Practice team in ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the Chief Auditor’s and Audit Department’s business strategies and objectives.
Main accountability is to create, maintain, and improve data analytics capabilities for Internal Audit in support of its mandate, particularly over reporting that is distributed to internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have solid technical knowledge and experience in data science/engineering, analysis, and visualization.
Accountabilities
- Lead data analysis engagements, including providing guidance & supervision to other team members.
- Collaborate with business lines and other stakeholders to enhance Internal Audit’s and the Bank's data analysis practices and adoption.
- Identify, acquire, and use large volumes of data to provide incremental business value through creation of new models and algorithms that help the Internal Audit group execute audits more efficiently and allow management to identify emerging risks.
- Develop innovative solutions that provide business value and improve customer experience.
- Develop & enhance visual dashboards to enable data-based Continuous Monitoring throughout Audit.
- Work with large datasets and distributed computing tools for analysis, data mining, and modeling.
- Prepare detailed documentation to outline data sources, models, algorithms used and developed, as well as results obtained.
- Support and deliver on the Data Analytics transformation initiative.
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Lead data analysis and visualization for the department’s annual planning process, collaborating closely with methodology specialists.
- Design, implement, and optimize data analysis and visualization solutions for reporting, monitoring, and annual planning using Power BI, Python, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, and PowerApps.
- Support Directors in the Audit Professional Practice area as needed with short-term projects, including requirements gathering, business logic implementation, and dashboard creation.
- Provide technical support and guidance for Alteryx workflow development, optimization, and publishing on Alteryx Server.
- Manage and integrate analytics solutions across multiple platforms, ensuring process automation and operational efficiency.
- Support the department’s IT unit by analyzing data quality and integrity as needed.
- Develop and deliver peer training & knowledge-sharing on data engineering, analysis, & visualization.
- Follow software industry best practices in testing and documentation.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and culture should influence day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Ensure effective operations and controls to meet operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risk obligations, including adherence to relevant frameworks and guidelines.
- Foster a high-performance environment, attracting, developing, and motivating the team within an inclusive work environment, and managing succession and development planning.
Education/Experience
- Proficient in Python for data analysis, automation, and scripting tasks.
- Advanced expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Server, including data modeling, report automation, and dashboard development.
- Strong Excel (Power Query) skills for data analysis, dashboard creation, and report automation.
- Experience in implementing and optimizing BI solutions using Power BI and other visualization tools.
- Experience designing, optimizing, and documenting Alteryx workflows, including publishing on Alteryx Server.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and advanced analytics methods.
- Ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality data and analytics solutions independently and in teams.
- 3–5 years of professional experience as a data analyst, engineer, or scientist.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Additional Skills & Experience (Beneficial)
- Familiarity with advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and optionally JavaScript.
- Project management skills for prioritizing multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Spanish is an asset.
