Job description

Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous, and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed, and delivered in Canada.

Position: Senior Manager, Asset Management

The Senior Manager, Asset Management will be based in Toronto, Montréal, or Calgary and report directly to the Director or Head, Asset Management. This role involves taking ownership of assigned assets, overseeing portfolios to ensure value preservation, mitigating risks, leading post-financial close activities, managing asset performance, and serving as the primary contact for stakeholders. The Senior Manager will also mentor team members and implement asset management policies and procedures.

This position is suited for a project finance professional experienced in infrastructure (P3 or project finance deals), corporate finance, or investment banking with over 7 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as the lead asset owner for assigned investments.
  2. Lead onboarding of new investments, establishing monitoring and compliance frameworks.
  3. Engage proactively with counterparties for early risk detection and resolution.
  4. Collaborate with Investment, Risk, and Legal teams on complex issues such as restructurings and amendments.
  5. Oversee financial performance including cash management, forecasting, and covenant compliance.
  6. Prepare investment updates for stakeholders, including quarterly and annual reports.
  7. Validate funding requests and coordinate fund flows.
  8. Update amortization schedules and operating models.
  9. Maintain liquidity forecasts and track KPIs for investments.
  10. Collaborate on Annual Internal Rating Reviews and ECL calculations.
  11. Champion improvements in asset management systems and processes.
  12. Mentor and train junior team members and oversee asset management practices.
  13. Contribute to strategic initiatives and portfolio oversight.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 7+ years in project finance, infrastructure investments, private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance, including 3+ years in management roles.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law, or Accounting is preferred.
  • CPA and/or CFA designation is advantageous.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience leading teams and working with government agencies is a plus.
  • Strong project management, communication, and mentorship skills.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and bilingual in French and English are desirable.
