Roots is seeking a Senior Manager Application Development to lead our growing in-house web development team. This role requires a strategic thinker who values collaboration, innovation, and results-driven leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a proven track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams towards successful project execution. Reporting to the VP of Information Strategy and Systems Information Technology, the Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact

• Establish and lead an in-house web development team, overseeing multiple multidisciplinary teams (Web, Data & Middleware).
• Define the strategic direction for technical products and system integrations.
• Lead and manage the migration of legacy architecture to modern cloud and data-centric platforms in partnership with business teams.
• Implement and oversee data governance initiatives to enhance information management and deployment practices.
• Ensure the consistent and timely delivery of digital projects across web, mobile, and backend interfaces, prioritizing application design, scalability, reusability, and quality.
• Develop a center of excellence for reusable services and API-based architecture driven by data-centric principles.
• Build, support, and modernize core data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) platform capabilities.
• Develop and implement metrics to measure success, stability, and ongoing monitoring of post-launch results through reporting and dashboards.

Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring

• Minimum of 3+ years in a senior management, preferably within a retail-related industry.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred; alternatively, 4+ years in leadership roles may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Extensive experience in building and delivering technology products related to cloud-based and integration platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Middleware technology (e.g. Mulesoft, Boomi, Azure).
• Demonstrated leadership of high-performance, cross-functional engineering teams for a minimum of 3-5 years.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Salesforce or Shopify is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.
• Deep understanding of cloud technology stacks, microservices architecture, and best practices in software development.
