About the workplace

As the Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance Operations, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering accurate financial information and efficient payment processing. You’ll ensure Vancity’s finance operations and accounting functions are well-managed, timely, and aligned with accounting standards and internal policies to support the organization’s strategic goals and decision-making.

This is an 18-month contract role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.

A typical day would involve:

  • Manage and evolve essential finance operations including accounting, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
  • Implement and oversee frameworks to deliver timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting and payment processing.
  • Monitor general ledger activities to ensure consistent and accurate accounting treatment across entities and business lines.
  • Prepare and review working papers, schedules, and required documentation can coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth delivery of year-end financial statements and related audits.
  • Collaborate across departments to collect data, analyze variances, and produce financial reports that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop, redesign, implement, and manage finance technology aligned with organizational strategy and evolving business needs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting and finance operations, focusing on enhancing accuracy, speed, and reporting quality.
  • Champion the integration of technology and process innovation to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and user experience across financial workflows.
  • Build and lead a diverse, engaged finance team committed to operational excellence and achieving strategic objectives.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is an asset.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and systems oversight.
  • Business acumen in the context of the financial industry, would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and technology platforms, with a focus on fostering a culture of continuous adoption and improvement of technology and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

  • A people leader: you have people leadership skills to manage a team of direct reports and support the technical/transactional activities and carry out all people practices. You have the ability to be adaptable to manage and lead yourself and your team through change.
  • A problem solver – Your skills to diagnose challenges and issues, develop innovative business solutions, and assess risks and opportunities that may affect the business have been put to good use.

The salary range for this role is $102,200 to $153,200 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
