What you will be doing:
- Oversee the safe operation, troubleshooting, and general maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, wastewater, security, and fire protection systems, providing direct support where applicable.
- Inspect and maintain all tools and equipment in good condition.
- Conduct regular inspects of the properties to detect and resolve issues.
- Set up maintenance rooms in new buildings.
- Educate staff about their role with respect to Heath & Safety standards.
- Hire, train, supervise and mentorship to property maintenance employees and trades, including coordinating work activities, schedules, and performance management
- Support and contribute to performance management and staff development initiatives.
- Coordinate seasonal activities, ensuring timely scheduling and completion of projects in advance of events deadlines.
- Function as the on the emergency contact for anything related to the properties, including coordinating emergency repair services, as required.
- Ensure all Regional, Provincial and Federal facilities, safety and environmental standards and regulations are adhered to and maintain a relationship with relevant oversight bodies.
- Coordinate month-end duties including suite pre-inspection, scheduling of employees/ contractors for turnover of suites.
What you need to bring:
- Two years of experience in the property management and/or construction industry would be an asset;
- Minimum of three years of proven experience leading and managing teams, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, delegate responsibilities, and drive team performance
- Ability to use physical exertion that includes lifting, carrying, climbing ladders and moving materials;
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a results-oriented approach;
- Ability to think creatively when problem solving, proactively adapting to challenges;
- Ability to work well independently;
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships and to work well in a team environment.
- This position requires frequent travel to various job sites across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are essential. Travel may involve day trips as well as occasional overnight stays.
- You will be required to respond to emergencies afterhours on an on-call basis
