Job summary

GDI Ainsworth Vancouver is seeking a Senior Low Voltage Technician to install and maintain structured cabling and network infrastructure across customer sites. You will conduct site surveys, design cable pathways, and ensure projects are planned and executed efficiently, on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities include installing copper and fiber cabling, testing networks, building LAN rooms, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in low voltage systems.
• Ability to install, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling.
• Proficiency reading technical drawings.
• Clean valid driver’s license.
• Able to travel for out-of-town work.
• Must pass RCMP background check.

Job Summary:

Our GDI Ainsworth Vancouver office is looking to add a Senior Low Voltage Technician to the growing team. The role involves installing and maintaining structured cabling and network infrastructure to support reliable connectivity across customer sites. Responsibilities extend to conducting site surveys, designing cable pathways, and ensuring all project activities are planned and executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation of structured cabling systems, pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling as per specifications and customer requirements
• Troubleshoot and test various network and connectivity related issues
• Installation of network equipment and LAN room buildouts
• Installation of cable support systems i.e. cable tray, conduit, and J-hooks
• Site surveys to determine project requirements.
• Design and install cable pathway and support systems i.e. cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks, conduit
• Project planning – ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget

Qualifications:

• 5 plus years of experience required
• Belden, Panduit, AMP, certification is a plus
• Conduit experience is a plus
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending technical drawings with the ability to carry out the scope of work and provide the required deliverables and documentation
• Must be able to install, terminate, troubleshoot, and test all types of low voltage copper cabling.
• Must be able to install, terminate, troubleshoot, and test fiber optic cabling.
• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
• Maintain a safe work environment by following company policies and safety procedures.
• Excellent customer communication and service skills
• Must have a strong work ethic and work well in a team environment.
• Proficient use of Microsoft and computers
• Open availability to work non-traditional hours including emergency service calls on short notice, weekend and after hours work as required
• Availability for occasional multi-night travel for out-of-town work.
• Must have a clean valid driver’s license
• Must be able to pass an RCMP background check

The pay range is $34.00 - $38.00 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards, benefits and health insurance, among others.
