YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent you will be part of the Engineering Department. The Senior Long-Term Planning Engineer will be responsible for providing mine engineering services to meet the business needs in support of existing operations and the study/project pipeline, and strategic development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance to HSSE policies, standards and procedures, ensuring team members are fully trained and able to perform their duties safely;
- Develop strategic mine planning process to support all mining related activities;
- Work in collaboration with all site functions to determine plan, design input parameters and assumptions, ensuring all design work comply to AE standards and legislative requirements;
- Liaise with geology and geotechnical engineers to determine and apply design criteria for the mine being designed and with mine operations to ensure practicality of designs;
- Optimize the phase designs and development strategic mine sequences;
- Develop pit optimization and recommend the final pit shell selection;
- Work in collaboration with the senior long-term engineer in the mid-year and year-end Reserve Statement;
- Develop the Life of Mine and ELOM in accordance with the Corporate and internal project deadlines and objectives;
- Design of mine infrastructures: waste dump, Stockpile, haul road and other facilities required to support the Ore Reserves and LOM mine scheduling;
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering with eligibility for P.Eng registration with the PEO;
- Minimum 10 years’ senior technical and operational experience in an open pit mining environment;
- Experience in a range of mine planning horizons including long term mine planning, production support, mine operations and design in large and diversified mine sites, with preference for experience in conventional hard rock gold operations;
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge in phase and pit designs;
- Experience with resource/reserves estimation;
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity;
- Experience in strategic mine scheduling, life of mine, 5 years mine schedule and the transition to tactical mine scheduling,
- Knowledge of equipment selection, reserve estimation and economic evaluations;
- High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques and strong experience in the use of Vulcan, Minesight and Deswik software;
- Knowledge of unit costing methods for resource and reserve analysis and of cash flow and financial analysis through the use and manipulation of project financial models.
YOUR WORK SCHEDULE: 4/3 schedule (Monday to Thursday) at Detour Lake Mine; a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in Timmins, ON, Sudbury, ON or Toronto, ON and home.
