Job summary

Harvest House, by Optima Living, is seeking a Cook Level I to prepare nutritious meals for residents in Olds, Alberta. You will work under the Food Services/Support Services Manager to ensure dietary needs and safety standards are met with compassion.

Responsibilities include cooking, planning schedules, portion control, and maintaining sanitation and inventory while supporting a resident-first care approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of home-style or restaurant cooking experience.
• Active Food Safe certification.
• Experience in residential care or similar setting is an asset.
• Strong hygiene practices are required.
• Ability to supervise when necessary.
• Excellent communication with residents and team members.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food using roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking.
• Assembles ingredients and equipment for preparation.
• Cooks and seasons meals per menu and therapeutic diets.
• Plans cooking schedule to ensure nutritional value.
• Monitors temperatures and sanitation standards.
• Maintains food safety plans and reports issues.
• Keeps inventory and monitors deliveries.
• Supports Food Services Manager as needed.
• Responds to emergencies per policies.
