Job summary

Silvera for Seniors in Calgary seeks a Cook to prepare and deliver meals, reporting to the Culinary Supervisor and stepping in during their absence to ensure service excellence. You will uphold high standards of food quality, safety, and teamwork across communities.

Rotational shifts, 8.5 hours, 6:00am–6:30pm, weekends included. Casual employment with no guaranteed hours; travel between communities as a Floater Cook. A personal cell phone is required to perform duties.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of cooking experience, preferably institutional cooking.
• GED required; post-secondary culinary education or Red Seal is an asset.
• Demonstrates strong communication, hygiene, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Measures out meal ingredients according to recipes and standards.
• Prepares and delivers food to the established culinary standards.
• Keeps the kitchen organized, cleans, stores items properly, rotates stock.
• Ensures compliance with safe food handling per Public Health regulations.
• Supports event food service; serves meals politely and professionally.
• Manages inventory with the Culinary Supervisor; controls supplies.
• Ensures kitchen equipment remains in good working order.
• Reports resident concerns to the Culinary Supervisor or Community Manager.
• Participates in Silvera Health & Safety program and reports hazards.
• Prepares and plates dishes; provides input on menu design.
• Adapts items for allergies or dietary requirements.
• Maintains TLC training compliance; travels between communities as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
