Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Active Living Aide to assist in planning and delivering meaningful programs for residents across our retirement residences in Canada.

You will collaborate with the Active Living Manager to implement activities, support meal services as needed, and maintain accurate records. A college diploma in recreation or gerontology and experience with seniors are preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Must provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents, in collaboration with the Active Living Manager & Executive Director.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of planned programs detailing participation.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff across departments; inform them of current and upcoming events.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on elderly care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan programs aligned with residents' interests.
• Facilitate residents in scheduled and pre-arranged outings.
• Assist with assessment of individual resident activity levels.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults; uphold ethics and integrity.
