Job summary

Synapse360 in Manchester seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own Linux patching and cloud automation across managed services. You will manage Ansible playbooks, Azure Update Manager, Azure Backup, and IaC with Bicep/ARM, while maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and handling 24x7 on-call incidents.

You should bring 5–7 years in enterprise infrastructure, strong Linux administration, and a proactive automation mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–7 years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
• Ownership of large-scale Linux patching programs using Ansible.
• Hands-on Ansible playbook development for patching, configuration management and compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure — Linux VM management, Update Manager, and backups.
• Strong Linux administration across RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux.
• Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps — CI/CD pipelines and release management.
• Willingness to participate in a 1-in-5 weekly on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Patching: Own the monthly patching cycle for Linux servers with Ansible playbooks.
• Backup Management: Manage Azure Backup policies and Recovery Services Vaults.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code & Automation: Develop Bicep/ARM templates and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• VM Lifecycle Management: Provision, configure, and manage Linux VMs on Azure.
• Azure Key Vault & Secrets: Manage secrets and rotate certificates in deployments.
• Change Management: Document changes, risk assessments, rollback plans, and reviews.
• T1 Escalation Handling: Resolve Linux/cloud automation incidents and mentor juniors.
• ServiceNow & Reporting: Maintain tickets and contribute to SLA reporting.
