What you can expect to do here:
- Develop creative lighting concepts from proposal through detailed design, including plans, specifications, mock-ups, and liaising with architects, interior designers, and suppliers.
- Participate in design and site meetings, and prepare technical reports.
- Create accurate, efficient, and innovative lighting designs using internal and external resources.
- Analyze fixture packages for opportunities to optimize product selection and costs.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff members.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver technical solutions.
- Stay updated on industry developments and innovations globally.
- Ensure project delivery meets quality standards of both the company and clients.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, or Architectural Engineering.
- 7-10 years of professional experience as a Lighting Designer (LC or CLD).
- A portfolio demonstrating creative and technical lighting design skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32, Photoshop, and 3D software.
- Experience with lighting calculations and modeling software.
- Thorough knowledge of Building Codes and Standards (e.g., OBC, IESNA, ASHRAE, NFPA).
- Understanding of architectural and engineering design processes.
- Ability to apply codes, bylaws, and specifications appropriately.
- Strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills.
- Extensive knowledge of lighting products, fixtures, lamps, and control systems.
- Project management skills to handle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
